PwMIs & Their Needs: A Holistic Approach by Saksham Sumana

PwMI – (Persons with Mental Illness ) include individuals diagnosed with major disorders listed in the DSM-5 such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), often with multiple co-occurring conditions. While their needs vary, they consistently require reliable support, especially when family caregivers are unavailable.

Caregivers –  Who are often parents, relatives, or close friends, actively manage PwMIs’ health care, finances, medical expenses, and daily needs. They strive to improve their loved ones’ quality of life and happiness from diagnosis through therapy and beyond.
